Many people in this country don’t even realize just how much control the mainstream media has over American society. With the exception of Fox News and a handful of other outlets, the majority of the mainstream media consists of liberal networks pushing a hard left ideology that is inconsistent with America’s founding. As a result, many Americans who are not aware of the biases and misinformation they are being exposed to on a daily basis are becoming brainwashed, in a sense, to think a certain way, to act a certain way, and even to say certain things. Indeed, the mainstream media today is better at controlling the people than they are at delivering factual information.
Most Americans that have been brainwashed by the mainstream media don’t even know that it has happened to them. They go on with their lives as they always have, thinking that they are intelligent, independent thinkers when in reality they are just regurgitating the rhetoric that they heard on CNN or MSNBC. One of the oldest propaganda techniques in the book is the idea that if you tell a lie often enough, eventually the people will start to believe it – that is exactly how the mainstream media operates today, and how they have successfully won over the minds of so many.
Given how mind-numbing the mainstream media can be, it is important to know what you can do to ensure that you don’t become a victim of the lies and the propaganda being shot out across the airwaves and plastered on the front pages of national newspapers.
Writing for the Waking Times, contributor Patrick Henningsen recently published an article titled, “Free Your Mind From Mainstream Media Brainwashing.” In it, Henningsen writes, “Whether we care to admit it or not, there are varying degrees of brainwashing and behavioral conditioning with films and TV. That’s why they call it programming.” He then asks readers to think about how often they find themselves using quotes from popular films or television shows, or even trying to copy a certain hairstyle that they saw from someone on the screen. “The first step in liberation from the machine is to become a more active consumer of information and content, as opposed to being a passive sieve,” Henningsen explains, using the word “machine” as a metaphor for the mainstream media. “To defeat the linear, force-feeding tube of information and social condition by Hollywood and mainstream media, simply read more,” he continues. “Read whatever you can get your hands on… Your knowledge retention rate will be higher, and the experience of reading will hone your mental focus, self-reflection and clarity of thought.”
Henningsen puts emphasis on the idea that the American people need to teach themselves how to learn, encouraging his readers to intentionally strike up conversations with people who are a bit more experienced and knowledgeable in order to avoid becoming victims to the lies and propaganda. “This is one of the fastest ways to increase your knowledge base and gain valuable insight,” he explains.
It is worth noting that in addition to the mainstream media, thousands of colleges and universities across the country have also developed a reputation for brainwashing students to think and believe one thing and one thing only. Just this past week, a professor at Occidental College was in the news for arguing that men must denounce their masculinity and encourage other men to do the same. Yet another professor at Eastern Connecticut State University a few years back was caught telling his creative writing class that “racist” Republicans would close down colleges if they were to gain power in Washington D.C.
This sort of liberal brainwashing goes on in both the mainstream media and in the college classroom, and unless the American people are equipped with the knowledge on how to avoid becoming just another parrot that repeats everything they are told, this ideological mind control will only continue.
