A new poll shows that most Americans would like to see Hunter Biden’s foreign business interests investigated, and many believe that his father is not as innocent as he claims to be.
In a poll of 1000 likely voters that was carried out on November 22 by Rasmussen Reports, 62 percent of Americans said that they supported Republicans’ plans to probe the business affairs of Hunter Biden, while 61 percent said they believed President Biden was aware of his son’s questionable dealings.
Although the president has long denied knowing about Hunter’s business affairs, some of which are currently under investigation by federal authorities, Americans are not convinced he is being honest. In fact, not only did 61 percent of voters say they felt it was likely he knew, 44 percent thought it was very likely that he was at least consulted about the deals and could have even profited from them.
The poll also revealed that 71 percent of Americans are following reports about Hunter Biden closely. Not surprisingly, the respondents were largely split along party lines, especially when questioned on their feelings about Hunter’s infamous abandoned laptop. According to the poll, 86 percent of Republicans believe that the story about Hunter’s abandoned laptop is important, while 56 percent of Democrats claimed it was not important. Overall, however, 63 percent of voters feel the laptop story is important, including 41 percent who say it is “very important”.
In October 2020, just ahead of the election, the New York Post broke a story about suspicious business relationships between Hunter and Ukrainian and Chinese entities. Although the president has denied talking to his son about his foreign dealings, evidence on a laptop abandoned by Hunter indicates otherwise, including one email referencing the “big guy” taking a 10 percent cut of a deal with a Chinese state-backed energy company.
At the time, the laptop story was largely suppressed by the liberal mainstream media and social media in hopes of protecting Biden’s chances of winning the election. However, many mainstream outlets have since admitted the story has merit. One Twitter executive who played a major role in stopping the story from circulating, Yoel Roth, recently admitted that censoring the story on the platform was a mistake.
A day after securing control of the House of Representatives, Republicans outlined plans to investigate, and two prominent incoming committee chairmen have promised to make these investigations their first order of business.
Representatives James Comer (R-Kentucky) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), who are the leaders-in-waiting of the House Oversight and Judiciary committees, respectively, said earlier last month they would look into whether the president “is a security risk and whether he is compromised by foreign governments” due to his son’s influence-peddling activities.
Although some supporters have claimed that as a private citizen, Hunter should not be subjected to congressional probes, Rep. Comer accused Joe Biden of being the “chairman of the board” of the business dealings conducted by his family and said the White House has spent more than $250,000 deflecting negative stories about Hunter.
Comer said that one of their big focuses will be on whether Joe was directly involved in Hunter’s business deals and whether or not he is compromised. He added that he would like to see some of Biden’s family members testify before the House, although their main focus at the moment is his bank records.
He said: “As part of our investigation, we have evidence that the finances, credit cards, and bank accounts of Hunter and Joe Biden were commingled, if not shared.
“One of Hunter’s closest associates, Eric Schwerin, was accessing Joe Biden’s money and writing checks to reimburse Hunter.”
