A voter-roll management system used in 31 states and the District of Columbia has been discovered to have compromising political ties.

The Electronic Registration Information Center was sold to states as an easy way to update voter rolls, but both the founder and the operators of the system are very left-leaning.
According to The Federalist, far-left activist David Becker and Pew Charitable Trusts started ERIC in 2012 and posit that the program is run by the 31 member states. However, public records show that Democrat operatives have been working to drive voter turnout and achieve partisan goals through the system.
Becker formerly worked for People for the American Way, a Soros-funded advocacy group which spawned the Right Wing Watch Project. Before that, he was a Justice Department attorney and is remembered as a “hard-core leftist” who “couldn’t stand Conservatives.”
Despite Becker stepping out of the company in 2016, records show that his influence over the organization has continued, as he coordinates with state officials on ERIC-related activities and running meeitngs.
ERIC is currently under scrutiny for its involvement with the Center for Election Innovation and Research, another one of Becker’s creations.
CEIR was one of two leftist groups which took “Zuck Bucks” from Mark Zuckerberg, and funded the private takeover of government election offices in 2020. The funding targeted blue areas of swing states, encouraging leftists to “get out and vote.”
Some have also expressed the concern that ERIC inflates voter lists instead of scrubbing the list of people who have moved, died or become ineligible to vote.
In 2020, the system identified 17 million new voters compared to 3 million inaccurate voters.
Other states have started to worry that the organization is being mismanaged. Early in 2022, Louisiana announced that it would be withdrawing from ERIC because of “questionable funding sources and that possibly partisan actors may have access to ERIC network data for political purposes.”
There is a great deal of evidence to suggest that ERIC and CEIR had an impact on the 2020 presidential election. Whether the influence will continue in the 2022 midterms and possibly 2024 presidential election remains to be seen.
